Sensational Scottish Teas to Celebrate Burns Night

Burns Night is upon us, the annual celebration of the Scottish bard - usually a night of feasting and singing and large gatherings. Naturally, this year is a little more muted but for those celebrating at home (or on the dreaded Zoom!) we've put together a few suggestions of some of our Scottish tea blends to help round off your festivities.

With our tea warehouse in Leith and our tea shop in Leven Street, we are firmly rooted in the local Edinburgh community and have enjoyed forging strong connections with local Scottish and Edinburgh-based producers with whom we have collaborated to create some uniquely Scottish blends.

1. The Fudge House Tea

Working with The Fudge House of Edinburgh, whose shop on the city's historic Royal Mile has been producing traditional handmade fudge for over 70 years, we created an indulgent tea from a blend the finest Assam black tea leaves, natural vanilla flavouring and real mini chunks of Scottish Fudge. These dissolve in the tea when brewed to provide a delicate (but not overbearing) sweetness.

2. Whisky Tea Collection

Our five-tea set of Whisky Tea blends was a labour of love created over two years. Each of the five teas represent one of the five whisky-producing regions of Scotland, with flavour profiles that reflect the terroir and characteristics of that region. Made using real Single Malt Whisky, the teas are a wonderful celebration of Scotland's other national drink and an apt post-dinner drink for any Burn's supper.

3. Secret Herb Garden Teas

The Secret Herb Garden is a plant and herb nursery also housing a cafe and gin distillery over several acres of land just outside of Edinburgh. The beautiful gardens are home to a dazzling array of botanical and cooking herbs and plants which we wanted to use to create two Herb Garden tea blends. By pairing our Earl Grey with the Secret Herb Garden's herbs, we developed a Scots Earl Grey using heather flowers and bergamot oil and a Duchess Grey blend using calendula petals, orange blossoms and verbena.

4. Lavender G&Tea collaboration with Old Curiousity Gin

On this collaboration, we worked with the Edinburgh gin distillers at Old Curiousity Gin to develop and Lavender Gin and Tonic inspired tea, using the same botanicals from their award-winning, Secret Garden Gin and blended them with ethically sourced Ceylon Tea. The result is refreshing and packed with Juniper, Coriander, Winter Savoury and Angelica.
