‘Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world’ Whether it’s on a quiet afternoon with a book, at a rowdy conversation with your friends, or from a flask at the top of a mountain, tea brings a moment of joy and an escape from the stresses of daily life. When we say tea, we mean whatever tea means to you. A fine first flush Darjeeling, an expertly crafted blend, or a strong breakfast tea with milk are all good cups of tea in our eyes. Tea is a little luxury in a hectic world, and we are here to provide a non-judgemental place to discover the right tea to accompany your special moments.

We think tea should be creative. That’s why we’ve developed new blends that will convince you that you’re eating gateau in Germany or will make your mouth pop with unique combinations of fruits, spices, and tea. When choosing ingredients, we always go with excellence. For example, our blends that include chocolate use extremely high-grade vegan chocolate, even though much cheaper chocolate is available. Our fudge tea uses fudge from The Fudge House Edinburgh, another outstanding local business. Once we’ve chosen the best ingredients, we make our blends by hand in small batches in Edinburgh. In short, we hand blend some of the world’s best teas with flavours from the best ingredients available.

The Camellia Sinensis (tea) plant is grown, processed, and understood in an endless number of ways around the world. Exploring this has been our passion from the very beginning of PekoeTea. We want our customers to go on this journey too, so we trade directly with producers to source exceptional single-estate teas from around the globe. We’ve visited some of these tea gardens ourselves, from Rohini in India, Zhou family estates in China, to Kinnettles right here in Scotland. PekoeTea was founded in 2008, but we have 20 years of experience in the tea industry, including running our tea studio, wholesale trading with hospitality venues, and crafting custom blends for clients. We also strive to be tea experts and share this knowledge with anyone interested in tea. Look out for our informative blog posts, or come into the tea studio to ask us any questions and try some of the world's best teas yourself.

Honesty

Honesty

The tea industry is often complex and opaque, so we endeavour to source teas and ingredients as transparently as possible, blending and packaging in Edinburgh. This bypasses large companies acting as middlemen that sell generic teas to other small tea sellers and often obscure the problematic influence they have on the industry as a whole. We've come up against the opaque nature of the tea industry time and time again; this is why honesty has been our core value from the very beginning. We don't make misleading claims about our tea. Whether it's the origin, manufacture, or sustainability of our products, we are upfront with our customers. Always. And we do our best to provide educational resources to help our customers understand complex issues such as exploitation in the tea industry, the environmental impacts of tea, and the complexities of different types of sustainable packaging. If you have any questions about our products or how we run our business, message us and we'll get back to you.
