Tea Factory Production/Warehouse Team Member

PERMANENT CONTRACT, 24hrs per week

We are looking for a hands-on enthusiastic team member to join our tight-knit production team at our Tea Factory in Leith, Edinburgh.

We are a SALSA accredited production facility where we manufacture all our tea blends from scratch including blending, tea bag manufacturing and packing.

About the Role

This permanent, part-time position (24 hours per week) focuses heavily on our core production tasks - operating machinery (including our tea bag machine and weighers and label printing), packing tea, and managing final order dispatch. You will also look after secondary admin duties including logging orders and handling wholesale customer queries over the phone.

No direct food manufacturing experience is required. We take pride in our work and will provide full training on all our machinery, Food Hygiene standards, HACCP principles, and SALSA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operations: Safely operate and monitor production machinery, including tea bag manufacturing and weighing machines and digital label printing equipment (following full training).
  • Weighing & Stock Handling: Accurately measure and weigh stock items to prepare them for packaging and production.
  • Troubleshooting: Use your problem-solving skills to diagnose minor software or mechanical faults and safely clear machine jams.
  • Dispatch & Shipping: Securely pack completed products, generate shipping documentation, print courier labels, and coordinate daily dispatches online.
  • Hygiene & SALSA Compliance: Maintain strict cleanliness and record-keeping standards across all areas to comply with SALSA audit requirements.

Secondary Administrative Duties

  • Order Logging: Enter and manage incoming customer orders using our internal computer systems as required.
  • Customer Service: Answer incoming phone calls to handle general customer queries, track delivery statuses, and resolve minor issues.
  • Operate systems – Unleashed Inventory, Shopify, g-suite etc.  (You don't need to know this to apply but you must be willing to learn)

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Computer Literate: Proficient in basic computer use, with the ability to navigate shipping software and manage data entry accurately.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: A logical, practical mindset to troubleshoot machine glitches or resolve daily warehouse challenges.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfort learning to operate production machinery and handling technical processing equipment.
  • Willingness to Learn: A positive attitude toward mastering new technical skills and food industry safety regulations.
  • Physical fitness to manage lifting, standing, and manual production tasks.
  • A passion or curiosity for high-quality tea and drink products.
  • Good communication skills for handling occasional customer phone calls.

TEMPORARY CONTRACT (2-3 months), 16hrs per week

We are looking for a part-time tea packer to join our team over the summer.  

We are a SALSA accredited production facility where we manufacture all our tea blends from scratch including blending, tea bag manufacturing and packing. 

About the Role

This is a temporary, part-time position (16 hours per week) packing tea

No direct food manufacturing experience is required. We take pride in our work and will provide training on Food Hygiene standards, HACCP principles, and SALSA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weighing & Stock Handling: Accurately measure and weigh stock items to prepare them for packaging and production.
  • Sticking Labels accurately and quickly onto our packaging
  • Hygiene & SALSA Compliance: Work with your line manager to maintain strict cleanliness and record-keeping standards across all areas to comply with SALSA audit requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Computer Literate: Proficient in basic computer use
  • Willingness to Learn: A positive attitude toward adhering to food industry safety regulations.
  • Physical fitness to manage lifting, standing, and manual production tasks.
  • A passion or curiosity for high-quality tea and drink products.
